What's new

Every version, newest first. The same notes appear in the software centres on Linux.

Version 0.1.2 26 October 2026

Bugfixes

  • The macOS app builds again with Xcode 26.6.
  • Fixed tests of meeting invitations that depended on the date they ran on.

Version 0.1.1 26 October 2026

Notes

  • Malachi Mail now also runs on Windows 11 and macOS, with a native window on each. It is still an early version: keep a second mail program for anything that matters.

Features

  • Gmail and Google Workspace accounts, through GNOME Online Accounts or a sign-in in the browser; Microsoft 365 can sign in in the browser too.
  • Conversations: the message list can be grouped by conversation, and a conversation is shown as cards on a timeline or as a chat, with your own replies from Sent and unsent drafts in place.
  • A quick reply under a message or a chat, without opening a window.
  • Search of the stored mail, as you type, in a folder, an account or all accounts.
  • Several messages can be selected and archived, moved, deleted, marked or forwarded together; messages and folders have context menus.
  • Recipients are shown as removable badges while you write.
  • Plain text that looks like Markdown is pasted as formatted text.
  • Newsletters and mailing lists are recognised and can be unsubscribed from with one click where the sender allows it.
  • Jira issues can be followed as conversations: comments, status changes and replies from Malachi Mail, and Jira notification mail can be hidden.
  • A calendar for Microsoft 365 and CalDAV servers, with invitations answered from the message and reminders.
  • The Board sorts conversations that wait for you, wait for others or are just for your information, with reminders, Done and archive.
  • eWay-CRM: messages can be saved to the CRM with links to contacts, companies, deals and projects, and saved conversations followed.
  • An assistant (Claude Code or ChatGPT, run on your own account) can summarise mail, rewrite what you write, turn your words into a search, suggest replies and sort the Board; a profile tells it about you.
  • An MCP bridge lets AI agents read your mail and write drafts; changing or sending mail needs your explicit permission.
  • Mail can be stored compressed, and attachments of older mail left on the server or never stored at all.
  • A server certificate can be trusted explicitly by its fingerprint.

Version 0.1.0 6 September 2026

Notes

  • First tagged release. Mail can be read, written and sent, but this is still an early version: keep a second mail program for anything that matters.

Features

  • IMAP accounts with a setup assistant that finds the server settings for most providers; passwords are kept in the system keyring.
  • Mail is synchronised for offline reading, with new messages arriving as the server announces them.
  • Writing and sending, with formatted text, attachments and inline images. A message that cannot be sent right away waits in the outbox and is retried; a copy is filed in Sent.
  • Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com accounts through GNOME Online Accounts, with no separate sign-in.
  • HTML mail is cleaned before it is shown, and remote images stay blocked until you ask for them or trust the sender. Attached messages open in a window of their own.
  • Attachments can be opened, saved one by one or saved all at once.
  • The message list can be narrowed to unread or flagged messages.
  • The folder sidebar can be folded, and folders pinned to Favourites.
  • Recipients are completed from the system address books and from the people you have written to before.
  • Czech translation.

Known gaps at the time

  • Search and conversation threading were not available yet.
  • Gmail accounts were not supported yet.
